Process

How we shaped the experience

01

The challenge

Every traveler faces the same question after landing: what's the best way to get downtown? Taxi apps inflate prices, official airport sites are confusing, and Google Maps doesn't show real fares. Gate2City needed to be the definitive answer—fast, honest, and comprehensive.

  • Aggregate transit options (train, metro, bus, shuttle) with accurate pricing
  • Present information clearly for stressed, jet-lagged travelers
  • Scale to cover airports worldwide without sacrificing detail
02

Our approach

We designed Gate2City as a utility-first product. No fluff, no affiliate dark patterns—just the information travelers need. The interface borrows from flight departure boards: scannable, sortable, and instantly familiar.

  • Searchable directory with airport code, city, and country filters
  • Individual airport pages with detailed route comparisons
  • Journal section for insider tips and destination guides
03

Design & development

Built in Next.js for speed and SEO. Each of the 148+ airport pages is optimized for search—travelers Googling 'LHR to London city center' find Gate2City. The dark UI reduces eye strain for red-eye arrivals.

  • Dynamic routing for scalable airport page generation
  • Live data indicators and last-updated timestamps for trust
  • Keyboard-first search (⌘K) for power users
